About Thirsty America Sculpture

Vision

To produce concrete sculptural art that defines and enriches America.

Approach

I transform raw emotion and abstract ideas into tangible forms of concrete sculptures.

Influences

My sculptures are a dialogue between the raw power of brutalism, the fragmented perspectives of cubism, and the refined elegance of art deco—all rooted in a desire to explore form, material, and history. I see concrete as my canvas, echoing the strength and resilience found in nature and architecture. The brutalist influence manifests in the bold, unyielding forms and textured surfaces, reflecting a raw honesty and a sense of permanence.

Simultaneously, I incorporate cubism’s fractured perspectives—breaking forms into geometric facets—symbolizing complexity and multiple layers of interpretation. These fragmented shapes catch light and shadow, inviting viewers to explore different angles and stories within a single piece. To bring balance and refinement, I introduce art deco’s sleek lines and symmetrical designs, infusing my work with elegance and a sense of modern aspiration.

Together, these influences create sculptures that are monumental yet introspective—rugged but refined; powerful canvases etched with layers of history, complexity, and beauty. They are not just concrete—they’re concrete transformed by ideas, embodying resilience, evolution, and the timeless tension between strength and sophistication.

My Story

I was born in Bosnia during turbulent times, growing up in an impoverished environment shaped by conflict and hardship. In 1994, amidst the chaos of the Bosnia civil war, I came to America seeking safety and a new beginning.

I arrived in Clarksburg, California, where I started high school at the age of 16. My journey through education was brief—just enough to set me on a path—before I served eight years as an active-duty hospital corpsman in the Navy.

In 2018, I completed my BA in literature at Thomas Edison University, reaching a milestone in my lifelong pursuit of understanding and creating. My journey has been one of resilience, passion, and unwavering dedication to art as a voice and a legacy.

Throughout my life, art has been my true passion. Over the past 40 years, I have worked in many mediums, pouring my soul into each piece, expressing my story and emotions through creativity.
